Surgical Procedure by Dr. Tolga Aksan

Anesthesia:

    • Arm lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia.

Incision:

    • The incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed. Incisions may be made on the inside or back of the arm and may extend from the underarm to just above the elbow.

Removal of Excess Skin and Fat:

    • Excess skin and fat are removed along the pre-marked contours of the arm. Liposuction may be used in conjunction with the excision to achieve a more refined arm contour.

Closing the Incisions:

    • Incisions are closed with sutures, and the skin is smoothed over the new contour of the arm.

    • Detailed guidance on caring for the incisions, managing discomfort, and activity restrictions to facilitate healing.
    • Instructions on when to return for a follow-up and how to monitor for any signs of complications.

Follow-up Visits:

    • Regular appointments with Dr. Aksan to monitor the healing process and evaluate the arm lift results.

* Long-Term Care and Results:

    • Final results are typically visible once the swelling has subsided, and the incisions have healed, which may take several months.
    • Patients are encouraged to maintain a stable weight and follow a healthy lifestyle to preserve the results.

Key Considerations

  • Patient Selection: Ideal for individuals with significant upper arm skin laxity and who seek a more toned and proportional arm appearance.
  • Recovery Time: Patients may need to limit physical activity, especially arm movements, for several weeks post-surgery.
  • Risks and Safety: Dr. Aksan discusses potential risks such as scarring, asymmetry, and changes in sensation.

Dr. Aksan’s approach to arm lift surgery combines meticulous surgical techniques with a personalized care plan, ensuring aesthetically pleasing, natural-looking results, and a comprehensive recovery process.
